CHRISTMAS ATMOSPHERE AT GOLDEN LAKES

During the two-week Christmas and New Year vacations, the Christmas stall will be set up in front of the Golden Lakes reception. Opening times for this Christmas stall are indicated at reception.

In a special Christmas atmosphere, come and warm up by the fire while sipping mulled wine, hot chocolate or a special local beer.

Sweet and savory snacks are also available to reward you for your winter stroll. There's nothing like a Christmas aperitif with a hot drink to round off your day in the fresh air!

A few local products are available for purchase at the counter, so you can take home a little souvenir of the region.

SANTA VISITS THE VILLAS

On Sunday December 24, in the late morning and early afternoon, Santa Claus will come knocking at your door if you're staying in one of our vacation homes to rent, to meet your children and bring them presents. It's an emotional moment guaranteed to leave a lasting impression on your little ones.

Afterwards, you'll be treated to a glass of mulled wine and/or hot chocolate at the Guinguette de Noël.

On Friday December 22nd from 5pm, join us in Froidchapelle on the Place de Fourbechies for a great time at the village Christmas market.

A musical atmosphere, open to all, this is a great event to soak up the local atmosphere. A number of vendors will be on hand to provide warmth and snacks. If you go, don't forget to try the Fourbe'Gin Winter edition with chartreuse, a local speciality for aperitif time on winter evenings.

WHAT TO DO AT THE LAKES DURING THE HOLIDAYS?

While water sports are very much in vogue during the summer season, many activities remain open during the winter around the Lacs de l'Eau d'Heure.

If nothing beats a stroll in the forest and along the lakes, here's a non-exhaustive listing of the activities that will be open during the Christmas-New Year vacations.

• Spa Cinq Mondes: treat yourself to a moment of relaxation in our wellness center, with treatment rooms and massages, while the kids cycle around the lake with their dad.

• Crocodile Rouge: take the whole family to this multi-activity amusement park located in the Plate Taille visitor center. Embark on an underground tour of the dam or opt for a game of lazer.

• The Spin: awaken your senses and try to solve the riddles of one of the indoor Escape Games offered by this leisure park. For the more adventurous, brave the cold and icy waters of the lake by trying your hand at water skiing or wakeboarding in winter!

• Golf Leisure Center: guaranteed fun at this family-friendly golf center. Choose from a range of activities, including mini-golf, a fun foot-golf course with a soccer, disc-golf or, for the more experienced, the 9-hole driving range.

• For gourmets, opt for a culinary escapade in the Chimay region, including a visit to the Brasserie and Espace Chimay. 

• The Brasserie des Fagnes in Mariembourg and the Distillerie de Biercée are also worth a visit and offer guided tours.

NEW YEAR'S WEEKEND: SPECIAL ACTIVITIES

CERFONTAINE FIREWORKS DISPLAY

A few kilometers from the Golden Lakes, the commune of Cerfontaine organizes an annual fireworks display to mark the arrival of the New Year.

To attend the show, meet in front of the Cerfontaine church at 00:30. A glass of mulled wine will be served at the end of the show in the small hall nearby.

From your villa, you'll also be able to enjoy the fireworks in the sky.

THE JANUARY 1ST PLUNGE!

A must if you're celebrating New Year's Eve at Lacs de l'Eau d'Heure, come and watch and/or take part in the traditional and mythical January 1st plunge into Lac de la Plate Taille.

This original and unusual event takes place on the Espace Fun beach, just a few hundred metres from our vacation resort. At this time of year, the water temperature is around 3-4°C. And yet! This doesn't dampen the spirits of the many participants who take to the water every year.

 Whether you're in a swimsuit or warm on the shores of the lake, this is an experience you'll want to experience or watch if you're in L'Eau d'Heure over the long New Year's weekend.
